A Zone: Highest productivity
The A Zone is the best of the best. This is the area of the field that has always had high yields and has been very productive. Growers should be aggressive with their inputs in A Zones. Increasing fertilizer and seeding rates within this zone, will provide the best chance of a high return on investment.
B Zone: Average Productivity
The B Zone is the consistent and stable areas of a field. This area produces steady yields and helps maintain a strong average yield for the field as a whole. Growers should maintain their “average” management practices in this zone, and anticipate a strong consistent return.
C Zone: Below-Average Productivity
The C Zone is the areas of a field with yield limiting factors, including low-wet spots, sandy areas, and any other yield limiting factor. Growers should be conservative with inputs within this area. It is the area of the field where you want to hold back inputs and anticipate a low return.
