(Arden Hills, Minn.) April 21, 2014 – Gary Mohr, General Manager, attended the Land O’Lakes Business Development Services 2014 DC Insights Forum April 9-11 in Washington, D.C.
“With less than 2 percent of the population directly involved in production agriculture, it is increasingly important for all of us in the industry to speak up and be heard,” said Doug Brunt, Senior Vice President of Ag Customer Accounts for Land O’Lakes, Inc. “The DC Insights Forum provides a great opportunity for cooperative leaders from across our federated system to come 
together, get up to speed on emerging industry and legislative issues and advocate on behalf of everyone in agriculture.”
Nearly 60 Land O’Lakes, Inc., member cooperative leaders attended the policy forum, which focused on issues of importance to production agriculture, cooperatives and agribusiness. The forum provided participants with the opportunity to connect with Congressional leaders from their district, other policymakers from Capitol Hill and the Administration, and ag industry leaders and peers in the cooperative system.
Over the three days, cooperative leaders:
• Participated in Congressional office visits on Capitol Hill;
• Heard from Charlie Cook, editor and publisher of The Cook Political Report and a political analyst for National Journal; Congressman Mike Conaway (R-Texas); and Janet Nuzum, Associate Administrator, USDA Foreign Agricultural Service; and
• Hosted a panel discussion on biotechnology moderated by Chuck Conner, President & CEO of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives that included Jane DeMarchi, Vice President of Government & Regulatory Affairs for the American Seed Trade Association; Louis Finkel, Executive Vice President of Government Affairs for Grocery Manufacturers Association; and Jared Hill, Director of Legislative Affairs for the National Grain and Feed Association.
